Heat Pump vs Oil in Manchester: The 2026 Cost Comparison, Worked Out

The heat pump wins the fuel race by about 14 percent at these prices. Modest on paper. It compounds over a heating season, and it moves further in the heat pump's favor every time oil spikes, which oil does.

An 800-gallon season in Goffes Falls

Take a house in Goffes Falls burning 800 gallons a winter, a normal figure for an older single-family without recent insulation work. The oil bill: 800 gallons at $3.50 is $2,800. The same heat delivered by heat pump: 800 times $3.02 is about $2,416.

When oil still holds its ground

If your boiler is under ten years old, running clean, and your tank is sound, the urgency drops; the rebate window still argues for moving before December 31, 2026, and a healthy boiler makes an excellent backup rather than a demolition project. If your electrical panel needs a major upgrade to host a heat pump, that cost belongs in your payback math. How the switch actually goes

The sequence matters less than people fear. A contractor visits, runs the load calculation against the design day, and hands you a tonnage and a layout.
